Pleuron was a son of Aetolus and the husband of Xanthippe.
Pleuron was a son of Aetolus and Pronoe, the other being Calydon. He was married to Xanthippe, the daughter of Dorus, by whom he became the father of Agenor, Sterope, Stratonice and Laophonte. He was said to have founded the town of Pleuron in Aetolia. He also had a shrine built to him in Sparta by his great-granddaughter, Queen Leda.
