Aletes was a son of Icarius and Periboea. He was a descendant of Zeus and Poseidon.

Aletes was the brother of Penelope, Perileos, Damasippus, Imeusimus, Thoas and Iphthime, and the paternal half-brother of Amasichus, Phalereus, Thoon, Pheremmelias, Perilaos and Laodice.
